Traditional Korean Clothing

Traditional Korean clothing has its roots extending back at least as far as the Three Kingdoms Period (57 B.C. - 668 A.D.), as evidenced by wall paintings in tombs dating from this period. The Korean hanbok represents one of the most visable aspects of Korean culture.
The top part called a jeogori is blouse-like with long sleeves with the men's version being longer, stretching down to the waist. Women wear skirts (chima) while men wear baggy pants (paji). Commoners wore white, except during festivals and special occassions such as weddings. Clothes for the upper classes were made of bright colors and indicated the wearer's social status. Various accessories such as foot gear, jewelry, and headdresses or hair pins completed the outfit.

Cheogori and Paji
Men's cheogori were generally longer than their women's counterparts, reaching down to the waist or even lower. Like the women's version, they are tied across the chest in front.

The earliest versions of the paji had narrow legs to facilitate horseback riding and hunting. However, a more agrarian society dictated wider legs to facilitate squatting in the fields. The baggier pants are also more comfortable for sitting on floors than narrower pants.

Chogori and Ch'ima
Chogori for females have changed over time more than those for males. The earliest versions went all the way to the hips and were tied at the waist. By the late Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910), they only went as far as the arm pits, with a longer front panel to cover the breasts. Dongchong (detachable paper collars) help accent the woman's neck. Like the men's version, they are tied across the chest in front with a bow.

The ch'ima is a rectangular or tubular skirt with a high, pleated waistband. It is tied above the breasts with long sashes. By flowing over the rest of the body, it completely hides the female shape, strongly influenced by the Confucian society. Like the wide-legged paji for males, the billowing ch'ima allows a great deal of freedom for squatting, the preferred position when doing most household chores.

Street Dance Rocks!!!


There is no doubt that Hip-hop Fashion sweeps the globe today and the street dance, which is part of hip-hop culture, became the most popular topic among all teenagers who crazy about fashion.

There are many kinds of street dance in the world, all of them have difference characteristics. The hip-hop dance styles b-boying, popping, and locking are some of the most popular street dance styles in Western and African American culture. Thus, those forms of hip-hop dance are the most prominently practiced street dances. These street dance styles are so common that commercialized versions have been professionally developed and choreographed for dance routines in pop, hip-hop, electronic, and R&B music videos.


Breaking
The Breaking consists of four primary elements: toprock, downrock, power moves and freezes/suicides. It is danced to both hip hop and other genres of music that are often remixed to prolong the musical breaks. The musical selection for b-boying is not restricted to hip-hop music, as long as the tempo and beat pattern conditions are met.






Popping
Popping is based on the technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a jerk in the dancer's body, referred to as a pop, tick or a hit. This is done continuously to the rhythm of a song in combination with various movements and poses. Like other styles of street dance, popping is often performed in a battle trying to outperform another dancer or group of dancers in front of a crowd.






Locking





The name is based on the concept of locking movements, which basically means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing in the same speed as before. It relies on fast and distinct arm and hand movements combined with more relaxed hips and legs. The movements are generally large and exaggerated, and often very rhythmic and tightly synced with the music.

Tencent QQ, generally referred to as QQ, is the most popular free instant messaging computer program in Mainland China, and the number of simultaneous online QQ accounts exceeded 100 millions.Just like MSN in Foreign country. In April 2010, QQ.com ranked 10th overall in Alexa's internet rankings. The program is maintained by Tencent Holdings Limited owned in part by Naspers.Since its entrance into Chinese households QQ quickly emerged as a modern cultural phenomenon, now being portrayed in popular culture. Aside from the chat program, QQ has also developed many subfeatures including games, virtual pets, ringtone downloads, etc.




The original name of QQ was OICQ ("Open ICQ"). The name was based on an already existing IMS (Internet Message Service), "ICQ".ICQ is one of the first modern IMS programs. The acronym "ICQ" came from the fact that the letters sound like "I seek you".
Q coin is a virtual currency used by QQ users to "purchase" QQ related items for their avatar and blog. Q coins are obtained either by purchase, one coin for one RMB, or for using the mobile phone service. Due to the popularity of QQ among young Chinese, Q coins are now accepted by gradually more and more online stores and gaming sites in exchange for "real" merchandise such as small gifts, and raised the concern of replacing (and thus "inflating") real currency in these transactions. The Peoplel's Bank of China, China's central bank, says it is investigating the possibility of cracking down on Q coin, due to people using Q coins in exchange for real world goods.Tencent claims the Q coin was merely a regular commodity, and thus not a currency.

In addition to its release QQ messenger internationally through its IMQQ portal, in 2008, QQ began to expand its services internationally, working with partners throughout Asia and the USA.

In India, Tencent has partnered with ibibo to bring such services as chat, mail and game to the developing Indian Internet sphere.

In Vietnam, Tencent has struck a deal with VinaGame to bring the QQ Casual Gaming portal as well as the QQ Messenger as an addition to the already thriving Vietnamese gaming communities.

In the USA, Tencent has partnered with AOL to bring QQ Games as a contender in the US social gaming market. Launched in 2007, QQ Games comes bundled with the AIM installer, and competes with AOL's own games.com to provide a gaming experience for the AIM user base.


In Italy QQ has released an Italian language version, QQITALY translated by Sonky.

Fashion, Clothes and National Costumes in the UK

Different counties have different fashion and clothes customs. Today I will introduce British clothes culture.

National Dress in Britain

Scottish National Dress

When people mention Scotland they will think about one of the most famous national costumes in the world, the kilt.
Some people consider it very bad luck to wear a kilt in a tartan that does not belong to your family.

Gentlemen
Today traditional dress for men in Scotland is a kilt with shirt, waistcoat and tweed jacket, stockings with garter flashes, brogue shoes and a sporran. A bonnet is often worn displaying the clan crest.

Ladies
Traditionally ladies don't wear kilts, they do however wear dresses or pleated skirts in a tartan material. More often though they wear a light plaid or shawl of tartan material

Welsh National Dress
For the ladies the typical Welsh costume consists of a hat, made of black felt, with a high crown and wide brim, which is worn over a lace cap. A red flannel shawl is worn over a crisp white blouse, and a full skirt made of wool with a black and white check pattern and a starched, white apron. Proper Welsh ladies always wore black woolen stockings and black shoes and carried a basket, made from willow withies.

However for men, there is not really a traditional cloth.

in ancient Ireland people were more likely to be seen wearing 'leine' (Irish for shirt), trews (Irish for trousers) and long cloaks fastened with a brooch.

English National Dress

Unfortunately the English don't really have a traditional National Dress as such. In one notorious episode during the Miss World pageant the English contestant came out wearing a Beefeater's costume, it was very embarrassing I can tell you.

New generation fashion icon---Edison Chen



Edison Chen, also called Koon-Hei Chen or Guanxi Chen, is the one of most famous star in Asia.


He was born in 7 October 1980, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His father is a businessman, Edward Chen, who has Chinese and 1/8 Portuguese descent. He graduated from R.C. Palmer Secondary School in Richmond, British Columbia and also attended Hong Kong International School where he improved his Cantonese and Mandarin.

He was considered as a perfect artist with all rounded talents because he can be film actor, rapper, cantopop singer, model, record producer and fashion designer. He was considered as the most fashion and coolest man by new generation in China even Asia for his music, movie and design.






His Music

As a singer, he was considered as the first man who bring the Hip-hop music and Rap to China. In 2000, at the age of 20, Chen landed a record deal with Emperor Entertainment Group. It took him a number of successful album releases before he was given the opportunity to produce a hip hop album. The first CD called Please Steal This Album. It shocked the Chinese music area with so fashion and so different music type.



His movie

In 1999, a talent scout approached him while he was clubbing with friends in Hong Kong. He asked him to film a commercial. He was at the age of 19. From then on, his career began with the Japanese film Dead or Alive 2: Birds. He made his Hong Kong film debut in the film Gen-Y Cops in 2000. He starred in many popular films including Infernal Affairs, Infernal Affairs II, Initial D Dog Bite Dog and so on.


His design, his fashion

Edison's foray into the fashion industry accompanied his rising success as a young pop icon. Edison, along with partners Kevin Poon and Billy Ip, became the founders of CLOT Inc., a clothing company described as a "lifestyle company" that is geared toward youth culture, and bringing street fashion to China and Hong Kong. The company has collaborated with many big clothing companies, such as Nike and A Bathing Ape.

Fashion Shows

A fashion show is an event put on by a fashion designer to showcase his or her upcoming line of clothing during Fashion Week. Fashion shows debut every season, particularly the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. This is where the latest fashion trends are made. The most influential fashion week is the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, also known as New York Fashion Week, which showcases twice a year.



I never been to a fashion show before and personally I am not very fashion. Because I think fashion change very fast, what is in today may out tomorrow, so I never follow the trend. But it is a good thing to learn about it, it can help to enhance our taste.
